Industry Sectors

LCNDTEST supports Belgian industrial operators across all sectors requiring reliable, certified non-destructive testing that complies with current European standards.

Industry Sectors

Belgian industry is rich and diverse. From the petrochemical installations in the Port of Antwerp to the steel structures of construction projects in Wallonia, each sector has specific requirements in terms of quality control and safety. LCNDTEST places its non-destructive testing expertise at the service of all these industrial sectors, adapting its inspection methods, procedures and normative frameworks to the particular characteristics of each field. Our in-depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards enables us to meet the most demanding expectations, both in terms of result reliability and speed of intervention.

Metal Construction

The metal construction sector demands rigorous inspections to guarantee the structural integrity of built assets. LCNDTEST operates on steel structures, industrial buildings, metal bridges, walkways and load-bearing frameworks. Our inspections verify the quality of welded assemblies, detect defects that could compromise the mechanical strength of structures and certify compliance with European construction standards, notably EN 1090 for the execution of steel and aluminium structures.

Visual testing (VT) of welds and assemblies, penetrant testing (PT) on critical areas, magnetic particle testing (MT) for crack detection on structural steels, ultrasonic testing (UT) of butt welds and heavy plates, radiographic testing (RT) for assemblies subject to high quality requirements. All our inspections are performed in accordance with EN ISO 17637, EN ISO 3452-1, EN ISO 9934-1 and EN ISO 17640.

Industrial Welding

Weld inspection is at the heart of our business. LCNDTEST supports fabrication workshops, piping contractors and steel constructors in the quality control of their welded assemblies. Our certified technicians are proficient in the acceptance criteria defined by EN ISO 5817 for quality levels B, C and D, as well as sector-specific codes (ASME, API, AWS). We operate both during fabrication and in-service to assess the condition of existing welds and determine their fitness for continued operation.

Visual testing (VT) in accordance with EN ISO 17637 with quality level assessment, penetrant testing (PT) for the detection of surface-breaking defects, magnetic particle testing (MT) for surface and near-surface cracks, conventional and advanced ultrasonic testing (UT) (TOFD, Phased Array) for volumetric weld examination, radiographic testing (RT) using film or digital techniques in accordance with EN ISO 17636-1 and -2. Welding procedure qualification and production control in accordance with EN ISO 15614.

Oil & Gas

The oil and gas sector imposes the highest safety standards for industrial inspection. LCNDTEST performs non-destructive testing on transport pipelines, storage tanks and vessels, pressure equipment, heat exchangers and refinery installations. Our interventions comply with the requirements of international codes such as ASME, API 570, API 653 and the European directives relating to pressure equipment (PED 2014/68/EU). We also provide corrosion monitoring through thickness mapping to optimise the management of your equipment service life.

Ultrasonic thickness measurement for corrosion monitoring, ultrasonic testing (UT) of piping and shell welds, radiographic testing (RT) on site and in workshops, magnetic particle testing (MT) on nozzles and stress concentration areas, penetrant testing (PT) on stainless steel and special alloy equipment. Inspections in accordance with API, ASME and EN standards for pressure equipment and storage tanks.

Energy

The energy sector, whether thermal, wind or nuclear, requires non-destructive testing of the highest reliability to ensure the safe and continuous operation of production installations. LCNDTEST operates on thermal power plants (boilers, turbines, high-pressure steam piping), wind farms (towers, flanges, mast welds) and energy distribution network infrastructure. Our technicians possess the experience and certifications necessary to work in environments subject to strict regulations and particular access constraints.

Ultrasonic testing (UT) of high-pressure piping welds and turbine components, thickness measurement for erosion and corrosion monitoring, magnetic particle testing (MT) on rotors and shafts of rotating machinery, penetrant testing (PT) on blades and special alloy components, radiographic testing (RT) for critical boiler and header welds. Inspections in accordance with EN, ASME standards and operator specifications.

Industrial Maintenance

Preventive and predictive maintenance is an essential lever for optimising installation availability and controlling operating costs. LCNDTEST supports the maintenance departments of industrial sites by performing planned periodic inspections, remaining life assessments and condition diagnostics on in-service equipment. Our inspection reports provide reliable and actionable data enabling the planning of repair or replacement operations, extending asset service life and meeting regulatory requirements for periodic inspection.

Ultrasonic thickness measurement for corrosion monitoring and remaining life assessment, visual testing (VT) during maintenance shutdowns, magnetic particle testing (MT) and penetrant testing (PT) for the detection of fatigue cracks on mechanical components, ultrasonic testing (UT) of welds and areas subjected to cyclic loading. Thickness mapping and trend reports for preventive maintenance management.

Structural Steelwork

Structural steelwork is subject to strict normative requirements, particularly within the framework of CE marking in accordance with EN 1090. LCNDTEST performs the non-destructive testing required by execution classes EXC2, EXC3 and EXC4, both in fabrication workshops and on site during erection. Our inspections cover all structural elements: columns, beams, bracing, connection plates, base plates and connection welds. We ensure that every assembly meets the quality criteria defined in the inspection plans and welding specifications.

Systematic visual testing (VT) of welds in accordance with EN ISO 17637 with dimensional verification, penetrant testing (PT) on fillet welds and butt zones, magnetic particle testing (MT) for crack detection on loaded welds, ultrasonic testing (UT) of butt welds on primary structural members, radiographic testing (RT) where required by the execution class. Inspection plans compliant with EN 1090-2 and the specification requirements.

Heavy Industry

Heavy industry environments — steel manufacturing, mining, cement works, foundries and large-scale manufacturing — subject equipment to extreme conditions: high temperatures, cyclic loading, corrosive and abrasive environments. LCNDTEST has the experience and equipment necessary to operate in these demanding conditions. Our non-destructive testing enables the monitoring of load-bearing structures, handling equipment, industrial furnaces, vessels and process piping to prevent in-service failures and optimise maintenance planning.

Ultrasonic thickness measurement on the walls of furnaces, hoppers and vessels, magnetic particle testing (MT) on lifting hooks, pins and handling components, penetrant testing (PT) on castings and forgings, ultrasonic testing (UT) of structural welds and machine shafts, visual testing (VT) of metallic structures and bolted assemblies. Interventions adapted to the access constraints and production requirements of heavy industry.
